The Princess Diaries : A Book Review

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot (2001)

Short Description:

Mia Thermopolis is pretty sure there’s nothing worse than being a five-foot-nine, flat-chested freshman, who also happens to be flunking in Algebra.

Is she ever in for a surprise?

First mom announces that she’s dating Mia’s Algebra teacher. Then Dad has to go and reveal that he is the crown prince of Genovia. And guess who still doesn’t have a date for the Cultural Diversity Dance?

My Personal Review:

I love diaries! And ever since I was a young little lass (grade 2 or 3), I have kept a diary for my everyday experiences (crushing experiences most of the time):p Ever since, I love to write. I know write?! haha!

The Princess Diaries book was lend by Janapee which is not the original owner rather Alu (Marjorie Aluzan) is the one. I borrowed books for my mind investments. I am aware Princess diaries is a hit movie but i can’t even remember if I have watched it already.

The story goes around with the life of Mia Thermopolis who happens to be the heiress of the crown of Genovia. (Even herself can’t believe it) Her father is the crown prince. She’s very ordinary and her looks has no qualifications of being a princess. (Oh yes. even an inch. ) She has a bestfriend named Lily Moscovitz. She became a love interest of his brother (Michael Moscovitz) in the end of the story.

I love how the book presented it as a real diary of Mia. I remember that even her notes in algebra are there. I was laughing by myself of how I imagine things happen. Speaking of Algebra, She hates how come her mom dates the teacher of the subject she was flunking at. She always needs to extend her time on this subject most of the time. It’s also my favorite part where she needs to train by her grandma in some princess 101 stuffs. After that she changed a lot and lead into some complications like a cold war with lily and the shame she has on the whole school.

Being a Princess is not great  all the time. It requires a lot of things like High expectations and everything Highness..

I’m not used to chick flicks but this  diary of Mia Thermopolis made me laugh and laugh all over again. I believe in each girls has a princess in themselves.

PS: Some words in the book is French because of Grandma. haha…!
